Credit cards have been an instrument which is used, based on credit reports, scores and so on. Hence, it would imply that a bad report or score would render one with a much lesser choice of credit cards.

Once your application is through, show them your loyalty and commitment by making a small purchase. Follow this up with proper monthly payments, if not a lot, at least the minimum payment required. Of course, paying more than minimum will relax the interest charges on you!
Ok. So, what if the biggies refused you a card? You always have other options. Banks, Credit Unions and Saving Institutions which guide your business, will be happy to offer you a credit card. In fact, it is much better dealing with these people, who are known, rather than the famed companies, who come down hard, if erred.
The other option which will always be open to you if everything else fails would be the secured credit card. To avail this one, you will need to open an account, preferably, a savings account, the deposit in which will become security for the line of credit. Need clarification? In simple terms, a certain percent of your deposit amount will become the credit limit.
Then using friends and family members also comes in handy. Request one of them to co-sign for any credit card. If this person has a good credit rating, it will count on your favor. So, if opting for this way out, choose a person with a fairly good credit rating. But, beware.
If you fail to pay back the dues, it will reflect in their credit rating as well, and apart from that, they would have to see off your payments, as they co-assured the company with their consent as well.
